MEET DR. MRIDHA
To stimulate volunteering within the Saginaw community, Dr. Mridha created the Health Angel Award which is given by the Saginaw County Medical Society in recognition of community service in the Saginaw area. This yearly award recognizes an individual or a group that has had a positive effect on the community.

To bring economic vitality to the Saginaw, Michigan area, Dr. Mridha has invested in many local businesses. He was also the initial investor for 1st State Bank and many other businesses.

Dr. Mridha believes that education is the best way to solve social problems and social suffering. For that reason, he created educational scholarships here in America and in Bangladesh. He also created the Best Teacher Award which is given by the Saginaw County Community Foundation. This award recognizes a Saginaw County educator that excels at encouraging students to achieve very high standards.

In third world countries, Dr. Mridha participates in philanthropic activities through the Mridha Foundation. This foundation exists to improve education and the quality and dignity of human life. Dr. Mridha created the Mridha International Award for Service to Humanity. The award encourages volunteerism and service worldwide.

Above all, Dr. Debasish Mridha is a man of vision that lives with a great passion for service to others. His words and actions continue to change the lives of many. Dr. Mridha’s personal philosophy is, “Service is joy; service is happiness.”
Dr. Debasish Mridha is a physician, writer, philosopher, and philanthropist. Along with his busy neurology practice,  Dr. Mridha is active in many medical, educational, and philanthropic endeavors. He has been in    practice for 19 years.

  Dr. Mridha completed medical school at the Kiev Medical Institute in the Ukraine. Then he came to the United States to complete his residency and fellowship at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He has been licensed to practice neurology since 1995. He has hospital privileges at Covenant Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.

  After finishing his fellowship, he came to Saginaw in 1999 where he established his neurology practice.   Dr.Mridha treats his patients with compassion and respect. He treats patients with Parkinson’s Disease,   Multiple Sclerosis, migraines, and many other neurological disorders. He is board certified in Neurology   and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Mridha was awarded the IMG Michigan Physician of the Year Award in 2012.

Dr.Mridha served on the board of Directors for the Saginaw Valley State University Foundation. To   improve leadership among young professionals, he created the “Leadership Scholarship Award’ which is   awarded each year to a deserving college student through the SVSU Foundation.

  Dr. Mridha served on the Board of Directors for the Michigan State Medical Society. Dr. Mridha also   served on the AMA Foundation Board. Along with the AMA Foundation, Dr. Mridha established the   Debasish Mridha Spirit of Medicine Award that encourages American physicians to go to third world   countries to provide much needed medical care.

Dr. Mridha established the Mridha Foundation in 2001, signaling his advocacy for education and commitment to humanitarian concerns. Every year, deserving students, educators, and medical professionals who exemplify the Foundation’s values are presented with awards and/or monetary scholarships recognizing their achievements in education, medicine, and humanitarianism.The Foundation supports partnerships with learning institutions, medical facilities, community organizations, and medical associations. Currently, those include American Brain Foundation, American Medical Association Foundation, Central Michigan University College of Medicine, Covenant HealthCare, Michigan State Medical Society, Saginaw Community Foundation, Saginaw Valley State University Foundation, and St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation.
The mission of the Mridha Foundation is to recognize and celebrate deserving individuals who embody the spirit of service and leadership through their deeds, accomplishments, and/or contributions to their field through scholarship and monetary awards while supporting the regional, national, and international communities.


The Mridha Foundation currently partners with the Michigan State Medical Society, American Medical Association Foundation, Saginaw Community Foundation, Saginaw Valley State University Foundation, American Brain Foundation, Central Michigan University College of Medicine, St. Mary’s Hospital, and Covenant Hospital to provide scholarships and financial awards to individuals who exemplify service, effort, and determination to contribute to a better tomorrow.

Mridha International Institute of Peace & Happiness
Dr. Mridha founded Mridha International Institute of Peace & Happiness because he believes passionately that the lessons of peace, harmony, and happiness are renewable resources in education and employing these principles is essential to solving the world’s most challenging social problems and minimizing human suffering.

While good intentions are a key ingredient to bringing about positive change, no sustainable forward progress is possible without a clear understanding of others, including their circumstances, motivations, and deeply held beliefs. Informed by personal experience, Dr. Mridha embraces the drama of daily life—replete with ample challenges and great rewards--with heartfelt optimism and determination to leave the world in better condition than when he arrived.
